With the release of the new Block Diagram, we would like to provide you with a best practice to effectively replace all your existing slides using the old Process Flow view with our new and improved view.
You will have until March 15th, 2023 to migrate your existing data before we remove the Process Flow entirely.
Luckily the new and improved functionality in the Block Diagram is aimed at giving you more control of your views makes this process pretty pain-free. Below you will find a step-by-step guide.
Short summary:
Have two-column view open
Remember to click “replace current slide” when you have found the correct view
Setting the right degrees is most commonly the biggest difference
Sometimes you need to add “is parent of”-references, other times you need to remove
Grouping only groups references that are included in the view, so sometimes you need to increase the slider (this includes parent all)
It is recommended that an Admin reviews this process as they are the only users which can see all presentations within your organization.
Find your Presentations which include the Process Flow view as a slide.
From the left bar find the Presentation Overview:
Open the desired Presentation in "Edit" mode:
Select the slides with the Process Flow thumbnails.
Open the appropriate views:
Click the "Two Column View" icon to open the old Process Flow view and the Block Diagram. Found to the right of the view tabs.
Open the new Block Diagram on the LEFT Column and the Process Flow on the RIGHT. This is critical to replace the slide. They will likely look different but do not change your context, we will modify the view next.
Close the Presentation slider without exiting the Presentation to give your screen space to work. This is done by clicking the "Play" icon on the top bar.
Modify the Block Diagram to replicate the view you see (or improve if desired):
Refer to this article for a complete walk-through of all the functionality in the Block Diagram, specifically managing the references.
Notice your context is highlighted as a blue circle around one component in each view.
Your perspectives will be applied to the new Block Diagram, so no need to adjust these.
Since filters are saved, we often find that it is beneficial to select all reference types (incoming and outgoing) to be included in the Block Diagram.
Pay attention to the modifier options in the process flow. In the above image, you will notice that the view is actually bottom up, not the traditional top-down.
Notice also the cluster of references to the yellow icons on the top of the Process Flow (right column). These are often unwanted consequences in the now fixed inconsistent logic of that view. For this reason, we will actually remove them in the replacing Block Diagram.
Now I set the degrees of relationships to 1.
The resulting view, in this case, is not exact, but however, is communicating the story we meant to tell. We find that in many cases you are able to replicate the view perfectly.
Close the Process Flow Column by clicking the "X" on the right side of the view tabs.
Re-open the Presentation slider by clicking on the "Play" icon on the top right.
Hover over the slide to be replaced, Do Not Click as this will reset all your work.
Click "Replace Slide with Current View"
And Repeat!
