Previously, the default behavior for importing Reference columns with empty component values was to show an error and prevent the import.

Now, when importing a reference between components, you can specify two options for handling what happens if the source or target component value is missing from the reference:

  1. Create new component: You can have Ardoq automatically create the component mentioned in the source or target reference column without needing to create it manually or beforehand.

  2. Exclude reference: You can continue with your import, but references to missing components will be excluded from the import process.

The options for dealing with missing components as part of references can be found in the column configuration menu in the Configure data step of the import process.

The Create new component and Exclude reference options for reference types also apply when importing references, not just components.

Note: If you’re using formats other than the component path, you won’t be able to automatically create components in some instances.
