What are Field Groups?
Today, a component's fields appear on the Component Overview page as a single flat, alphabetical list. When a component carries many fields, related information gets scattered, and it's hard to find what you're looking for.
Field Groups let an administrator bundle related fields into organized sections. For example, a Cost group can bundle Total Cost, CAPEX, OPEX, Total Direct Cost, and other cost fields so everyone viewing that component sees them grouped and can immediately see how they relate.
Why use them?
Find fields faster. Logical sections make the page easy to scan instead of hunting through an alphabetical list.
See relationships at a glance. Grouping related fields (cost, lifecycle, strategic rating) shows how they connect.
Smoother onboarding. A structured page reduces "where do I find X?" questions and helps stakeholders engage with their data.
How Field Groups appear
Once a group is configured, any component of that type shows the group's fields together as a labeled section on the Component Overview page. Groups are managed centrally, so every user viewing the component sees the same organized layout — no per-user setup required.
Turning Field Groups on
Field Groups is opt-in beta. For customers, it can only be enabled by your CSM or Ardoq Support. To request it for your organization, contact Ardoq Support.
Once it's enabled, an administrator can create a group and add fields to it; those fields then render together as a section on the Component Overview page. Additionally, if you don't create any groups, your Component Overview page behaves exactly as it does today — nothing changes.
