Introduction

This metamodel facilitates the governance of AI Systems across an enterprise. It builds on the AI Lens: Enterprise AI Management Solution. As part of the Governance, Risk & Compliance Suite it adds the ability to create and track compliance assessment records, and to conduct and document detailed evaluations of AI Systems against your AI principles, policies or regulatory requirements. It brings together two existing Solutions, Architecture Records and Solution Health Check, giving them a particular AI orientation, enabling an organization to meet the special needs of AI governance. If your organization is subject to the specific demands of the EU AI Act or one of the other AI regulations that are emerging worldwide, this solution can work in tandem with the Regulatory Compliance Solution.

Enterprise AI Governance Metamodel

The AI Lens: Enterprise AI Management Solution is a prerequisite for this solution, which builds on top of the component types, reference types and fields of that solution. In addition, it makes use of the following Ardoq solutions:

The Solution does not introduce any new component types, reference types or fields. The metamodel elements shown above (component types, reference types and fields) are those that this Solution makes use of to address AI Governance with its collection of Ardoq assets (reports, viewpoints, surveys, broadcasts, dashboards).. See Enterprise AI Governance: Purpose, Scope and Rationale for details of how the assets provided with this solution make use of this metamodel to address the particular needs of AI governance.

Assessing EU AI Act Compliance (optional)

By default, this Solution makes use of the Compliance Assessment component type from the Architecture Records Solution to record whether an AI System has been assessed against compliance requirements. If your organization falls within the scope of the EU AI Act, you can optionally deploy the EU AI Act Solution, which complements this solution with the EU AI Act Assessment component type.

The report AI Systems including compliance status, which is part of this Solution, will automatically detect EU AI Act Assessment components and make use of them in addition to relevant Compliance Assessment components when determining the compliance status of AI Systems.

Configuring the Technology Catalog (optional)

If you are using a Technology Catalog, having deployed the Technology Portfolio Management Solution, you should add the AI System field to the Technology Product component type in the Technology Product Catalog Workspace. See the Configuring the Technology Catalog in Getting started with AI Lens: Enterprise AI Management for details of how to do this.

Recording AI Technical Debt (optional)

The governance activities of conducting compliance assessments and quality evaluations are ideal occasions for identifying and documenting technical debt. A separate solution, Technical Debt Management, is available in Ardoq to facilitate your management of technical debt. A connection from this solution to the Technical Debt Management Solution has not been included with this solution in order to avoid creating a hard dependency. But if you have chosen to deploy both solutions, you can facilitate the creation of new Debt Items during the conduct of an AI Health Check. For details of how to change the Conduct AI Health Check Survey, see Getting Started with AI Lens: Enterprise AI Governance.
