Using Tags

Understand how tags provide an additional dimension of information for the components and references in your model.

Written by Kristine Marhilevica

Components and References can be categorized by tags, which give your information extra analytical dimensions - useful for filtering, grouping, and exploring your data across different views.

Tags are very useful to filter (or exclude) components or references from your visualizations.

Adding and editing tags

Tags can be added and edited in multiple places:

  • Data Inventory (recommended): Open the Data Inventory, select the Tags column and edit component tags directly in the table. This includes adding and removing existing tags and creating new ones. Column filters in the Data Inventory can be used to find components with certain tags.

  • Workspace mode: Right-click a component or reference → Edit Properties → add or edit tags in the dialog. This is the only place where reference tags can be viewed and edited.

Note: Inventory only displays component tags. Reference tags are only visible and editable in workspace mode.

Using tags in visualizations

  • Filter or exclude components or references from your visualizations using tags

  • Group by tag in visualisations - note that only components can be grouped by tags, not references.
