UAE Data Residency in Ardoq enables your organization to host key data and processing within the United Arab Emirates (UAE), supporting local data governance, compliance, and operational control. With UAE Data Residency, your tenant and its data are deployed on UAE-based cloud infrastructure with robust security and resilience, helping you meet internal and external requirements for data location and continuity.
What UAE Data Residency Means
When you choose UAE Data Residency, your Ardoq environment is hosted in the AWS Middle East (UAE) region (region code me-central-1), which is physically located in the United Arab Emirates. This region includes three Availability Zones, enabling high availability within the UAE.
Because there is currently only one AWS region in the UAE, Ardoq also maintains secondary encrypted backups in Microsoft Azure UAE North (region code uaenorth) to help reduce infrastructure and vendor concentration risk, while keeping backup data within the UAE.
Together, this configuration helps ensure that your primary data and backups reside within UAE cloud infrastructure.
What Data Stays in the UAE
With UAE Data Residency enabled, your core Ardoq service data stored and processed in the UAE includes:
Tenant data loaded into Ardoq
Configuration and metadata required to operate your environment
Encrypted database snapshots and attachment backups stored in AWS
Logs stored in UAE AWS accounts
Secondary encrypted backups in Azure UAE North support disaster recovery and controlled data restore scenarios. These backups are maintained within UAE regions to align with your residency requirements.
How Data Is Secured
UAE Data Residency follows the same enterprise-grade security standards used across Ardoq’s global deployments:
Encryption at rest using AWS Key Management Service (KMS)
Encryption in transit using industry-standard TLS
Strict access controls and auditing
Encrypted backups, including secondary backups in Azure UAE North
These controls help protect customer data throughout its lifecycle while supporting visibility and governance.
What Data Might Still Be Processed Outside UAE
As with most SaaS platforms, some supporting services may operate outside the UAE. Typical examples include:
Global services for email notifications
Customer support tooling
Monitoring, telemetry, or analytics systems
External services that we integrate with on your behalf
These services do not store the full tenant dataset, but may process limited information such as email addresses, identifiers, or log events. Where this is relevant for regulated customers, it can be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Is UAE Data Residency Generally Available?
Yes! UAE Data Residency is generally available and production-ready. New customers can select the UAE as their hosting region as part of onboarding. Existing customers can work with Ardoq teams if they wish to migrate their tenant into the UAE region.
There are no planned functional differences between UAE-hosted tenants and those hosted in other regions.
Who UAE Data Residency Is For
UAE Data Residency is designed for organizations that require local data control, including:
Large enterprises with UAE governance or regulatory needs
Financial services and insurance providers
Energy, infrastructure, and utilities companies
Government and public sector organizations
If storing and processing your architecture data inside the UAE is a prerequisite, UAE Data Residency enables you to meet that requirement while using the Ardoq platform.
How Backups and Resilience Work
Because AWS currently has a single region in the UAE, primary backups remain within me-central-1. To enhance resilience, Ardoq also maintains encrypted secondary backups in Azure UAE North, providing vendor-level diversification and support for disaster recovery scenarios or customer-initiated restores.
