Note: The article refers to Relationship View 3. Previous versions are being deprecated. Here is a migration guide you can use. You can select the latest Relationship View from Manage Views by selecting Relationships marked with "New".

The Relationships View allows you to analyze your data at high and low levels. As such, it can be used as a tool for presenting the complexity of the current situation or as a starting point for analyzing it.

Using the Relationships View, you can show multiple connections between large (and small) data sets that are understandable to non-technical users.

With Relationships View, you can gain a deeper understanding of more extensive data and enable further analysis at multiple levels.

  • Navigate the complexity of your organizational systems visually to accelerate decision-making.

  • Reduce time spent on change management activities by generating insights from large complex data sets (as well as small ones)

  • Enhance your risk management activities by visualizing your data gaps

Recontextualize by Double-clicking rather than Single-clicking

Recontextualizing (or redrawing the view centered on the selected component) in Relationship View 3 requires a double-click instead of a single click, ensuring consistency between the Ardoq Core Platform and Ardoq Discover. In the near future, we will roll out this behavior across all Views.

Here's a quick rundown of the Relationships View's key features:

1. Collapsible groups

Collapsible groups will provide you with information analysis at a detailed level vital to you and offer you an overview of the entire structure.

Make sure your data uses a grouping rule, and expand or collapse your data by clicking on the Group Expander.

2. Bundle relationships

Bundles reduce visual clutter and improve readability by grouping edges together. Having an easy-to-read view is important.

Choose "Bundle relationships" from the Viewpoint Modifier menu.

3. Reference labeling

Relational data analysis will become much more complex and precise with reference labeling.

When you hover over a reference, its reference label will appear if you have reference label formatting configured in perspectives

4. Highlighting disconnected components

Get insights into the quality and completeness of your data quickly and easily.

Choose "Highlight disconnected components" from the View Modifier menu. Pulses will be generated by disconnected components. Click again to cancel.

5. Focus Mode

With focus mode, you can focus on a subset of data while keeping the rest of the data in context. Users can quickly find direct connections between components (1st-degree relationships). Using this approach can reduce the need for applying filters when working with big datasets. The visual filter allows you to focus on a subset of the dataset without changing the dataset itself.

A single click highlights the component and its 1st-degree connections.

Slides added to a presentation retain their focus mode.

Presentation slides behave the same as views for selecting and deselecting focus groups and components.

6. Interactive Legend

With interactive legends, component visuals in the legend match their visuals in the view. Quickly find objects of a specific type in the view, e.g., entities of a specific reference or component type.

Like focus mode, it allows you to focus on a subset of data and reduce cognitive load, but instead of focusing on a specific entity and its connections, you concentrate on object types.

To highlight all instances of an object type in the view, hover over the item in the legend. You can highlight an item in the legend by clicking on it. Multiple elements can be selected in the legend. Components and references are currently interactive.

Slides added to a presentation also benefit from interactive legends.

7. Degrees of Relationships

In the first drop-down menu, you can manage degrees of relationships and reference filters:

Read about Graph Traversal to get more details about using the degrees of relationships and advanced settings.
