Data Inventory is the recommended way to view, edit, and manage your data in Ardoq. Use the Grid Editor for the one tasks Inventory does not cover yet: bulk-editing fields on references.

The Grid Editor is a spreadsheet-like editor for adding and editing Components and References. Editable fields are shown in the column headers; fields that are not editable are greyed out. Open the Grid Editor from the button at the very bottom of your screen, and expand it to full view using the square-with-tilted-arrow icon.

On the second top row of the Grid Editor, you are presented with three buttons. From here you can show all components (removing current context filter), view and edit all columns and fields.

The Grid Editor shows the component you have selected in your current context together with its child components. If the selected component has no children, you will see only that component. If your context is the Workspace with no component selected, you will see the top-level components — those without a parent. Use Show all components to lift the context filter and see every component in the workspace, and Select Fields to choose which fields are displayed. (Unlike the Grid Editor, Data Inventory is not bound to your navigator context; it shows all components you have access to, filtered by your own criteria.)

For References, it is the same principle as you will see Source Components first.

Choose between Components and References at the top of the editor.

Bulk Editing

If you want to change a field value on many components at the same time, you can click the corner of the cell and drag over all the rows you want to copy the value into. This works well if you sort on a specific field (clicking the column header) or by using perspectives to filter the components you want to edit.

In case of multiple users are collaborating simultaneously in Ardoq, the grid editor reflects these changes. Changes in workspaces will also be reflected in the grid editor. The final data shown in the grid editor will be based on the last changes made by the last user (the last user who saves becomes the winner 🎖)

Exporting Workspaces

To export your data, use Data Inventory's built-in export. It sends the current table to Excel or JSON and respects your visible columns, applied filters, and hierarchy view, so the file matches exactly what you see. For a saved, reusable data subset you can monitor over time, create a Report instead.
