Fetch a “Discover report URL” from core Ardoq and share it with stakeholders so they can explore reports right from Ardoq Discover.

Provide the wider organization with access to critical, detailed data they need to make better and more accurate decisions whether they have the Discover privilege enabled or whether your organization has the Ardoq Discover add-on.

How to Give Users Access to Reports in Discover

1. Grant the right access

For a user to successfully open a "Discover report URL", make sure to:

  1. Navigate to the Report Overview page in core Ardoq

  2. Click on the vertical three dot menu next to the name of your report

  3. Choose "Permissions" or "Edit"

  4. If "Edit", scroll down to the "Report Permissions" section in the Report Builder

  5. Add the user you want to share the report with and grant them report permission. You can choose between Administrator, Writing, or Read-only permission. Learn what each permission allows users to do in the "How to create a report" KB article.

2. Share a "Discover report URL"

Next, given that you have the admin user role, navigate to Reports in core Ardoq and:

  1. Open the report you wish to share

  2. Click the “Copy” icon to the right of the screen in the Report Reader

  3. Select “Copy Discover report URL”

  4. Share the Discover report URL via email or your preferred communication channel

You can also copy the Discover report URL from the Home page or the Report Overview page. Simply click on the three vertical dots menu to the right of each report and select “Copy Discover report URL”.

What You Need To Know

  • When opening a Discover report URL, users who belong to an organization that:

    • Has the Discover in their organization and has the Discover privilege enabled can:

      • See all the components shown in the report

      • Sort and filter data in the report

      • Export to Excel and .json

      • Drill down components that are part of a viewpoint they have access to

If a user belongs to an organization that has the Discover add-on but does not have the Discover privilege enabled, they are not able to drill down from a report to a viewpoint.

    • Does not have access to Ardoq Discover yet:

      • See all the components shown in the report

      • Sort and filter data in the report

      • Export to Excel and .json

Users who belong to an organization that doesn’t have the Discover add-on cannot drill down from a report to a viewpoint.

  • If you don't have access to Ardoq Discover yet, please reach out to your Customer Success Manager and they will enable it for you for free with limited access for five users.

  • Given that a user has access to core Ardoq, you can share an Ardoq report URL with them. There are three ways in which you can get the URL:

    • Open the relevant report and copy the link directly from the browser address bar.

    • Open the relevant report and click the “Copy” icon to the right side of the screen. Select "Copy Ardoq report URL".

    • Navigate to the Report Overview page or the Home page, click the three vertical dot menu next to the name of a report and choose “Copy Ardoq report URL”.

  • You can request to disable the “Ardoq report URL” and “Discover report URL” features for specific reports. Simply contact our friendly Support team via the in-app chat or send us an email at support@ardoq.com.

When to Share a Discover Report URL and An Ardoq Report URL

Share an Ardoq report URL when stakeholders need to explore data beyond the one shown in a predefined viewpoint.

Accessing the Ardoq report URL opens the Report Reader in core Ardoq. Thus, only users who have access to core Ardoq can access an Ardoq report URL.
